roccalbegna
Roccalbegna is the gateway between the Maremma lowlands and the Amiata highlands. Predating the thirteenth century as a settlement, the rock formations that surround it have protected Roccalbegna from expansion. Nature preserves are on either side: Pescinello, home of monumental trees, and Bosco Rocconi, a WWF refuge for falcons in the Albegna canyon.
monte labbro
To the southwest rises Monte Labbro, site of the temple built by nineteenth-century prophet Davide Lazzaretti.
